College Welcomes Cameroon Delegation

罗利,N.C. (4月12日, 2024) – Wake Tech welcomed a delegation of seven officials from Cameroon and two liaisons from the U.S. Department of State to the college's Southern Wake Campus on Friday.

The delegation from Cameroon's Ministry of Higher Education visited North Carolina's largest community college and met with Wake Tech leaders as part of the International 访问or Leadership Program (IVLP), the Department of State's premier professional exchange program. The delegation also visited North Carolina State University and the UNC System Office, as well as institutions in Washington, D.C.和马里兰州. They will stop in Chicago before heading home.

Wake Tech President Dr. Scott Ralls welcomed the delegation, explaining the unique role that Wake Tech plays in helping students transform their lives.

"Our focus is about helping everybody who wants to move up into opportunities in our region,罗尔斯说。. "We're not the college that people move into from other parts of the United States, but more people move up through us than any college in North Carolina. We're proud of playing that role."

Leaders from Enrollment and Student Services discussed the history of community colleges, the programs and activities at Wake Tech, and how Wake Tech degrees transfer seamlessly to universities and four-year colleges statewide.

布莱恩·甘恩, vice president of Enrollment and Student Services, highlighted the diversity of Wake Tech's student body. "We have students from 47 states and 140 countries," he said. "We are blessed by our diversity and the range of students that we serve."

Nine students from Cameroon are currently enrolled at Wake Tech. The college provides admissions guidance and resources for students from other countries through its International 学生 Office. Wake Tech also has an International Friends Club and hosts an International Day each year.
